HELPFUL FACTS ABOUT OUR BASSINETS.
Our California Dreaming and Sunset Dreaming bassinets have a slight tilt due to the fact that it’s so versatile when it comes to the adjustments. Since our bassinets can be adjusted to multiple heights and folded up for portability, the frame will always tilt a bit and will not be 100% level as a traditional stationary crib. With this in mind, we created a full 380ª mesh wall to ensure breathability and airflow in the case that your little one should move around and get closer to the walls.

Here are some helpful tips to ensure it is setup properly:
1.    Make sure the bassinet has the locks engaged under the mattress.

2.    If sides are dropped and connected to the bed, make sure the bedframes used are the correct height and type. The straps are meant to be flush with the bed. Do not use it with a frame that pulls the bassinet up or down when connected.

3.    Some infants move around and wiggle to corners to press themselves up on it as it mimics the safety and security of a womb. If this is happening, then bassinet co-sleeping is not an option as stated by the AAP and infants must be moved to a bigger sleeping environment such as a full-size crib.
We have learned that some infants rotate themselves in a stationary crib, studies have shown a baby often seeks the same pressure of the womb effects to seek comfort. Our bassinet cannot stop an infant from seeking the corners or edges. Wiggling and moving is a natural reflex in all newborns. All we can do is keep the bassinet free and clear of any suffocation devices like blankets, pillows or toys. If you are swaddling, then use the arm free swaddling covers so the infant has their hands free to push or move free.

Venice Child bassinets are manufactured according to the CPSC and ASTM standards as set by the federal government. Our bassinet is breathable and made with materials that allow airflow. It has been tested and simulated with infant motions in the ASTM testing standards and has passed the testing with a certified and CPSC compliant laboratory.

HELPFUL FACT ABOUT BABIES AND SLEEP

WHEN DO BABIES ROLL OVER?
Some babies will roll onto their side within days of being born. This is natural and is called the “newborn curl.” They have spent months curled up in your womb and seek the walls of something to press themselves onto to mimic the sensation of still being in the womb.
Most babies will lose that ability within the first few weeks to a month. Some babies will roll onto their side within days of being born. Many babies will be able to perform the “mini arm push up” (as early as one to three months) and others may take up to six or seven months to master the rolling process.

Many babies follow their own timeline in development! They are little humans with little minds of their own. Your baby can roll over intentionally at any point; some are early or late on this development. This means babies can rollover at early as one month is possible.

If your baby is able to roll over, either back to belly or belly to back, then you will need to discontinue swaddling. Swaddling is defined as being wrapped up with their arms restricted; if their arms are free, they are not swaddled. Use an arm free sleepsack instead.

If your baby remains swaddled and rolls in a position while swaddled, they could compromise their airway because their arms are not free to get free and the swaddle can become a trap.

HOW DO I STOP MY BABY FROM ROLLING OVER AT NIGHT?
If your baby rolls into a side-sleeping position after you put them down on their back, don't worry. The American Academy of Pediatrics advises that it's safe to let your baby sleep on their side if they're able to comfortably roll over on their own ensure their safety by making sure they are in an arm free swaddle or sleep sack if your swaddling, be sure to keep any pillows, blankets or anything out of the sleep space. Infants should always be placed on their backs on a firm flat surface.

WHAT IS A BABY SLEEP REGRESSION?
This is a period of time (usually 1-4 weeks) where your baby starts to wake more often at night or no nap periods.

Do not worry this stage is only for a short period of time.
 

Sleep regression can start as early as 2mths old. At the 2mth mark its considered the sleep learning stage. This stage your baby is growing and sometimes need to be fed more often, they will wake up agitated or crying every two to 3 hours. If your baby is sucking on his fist, rooting, or licking his lips, he or she might be fighting sleep because of hunger. It is not uncommon to experience a sleep regression from you little one ;your baby  will begin rolling ,wiggling and moving around looking for a bottle or trying to latch onto the walls of the bassinet as it mimics holding onto their mom for feeding.

Growth spurts and development stages causes sleep regression in early infant stages. Your baby is developing and learning and becoming more aware of their environment, sometimes it is over stimulating for them and they cannot sleep.
